Sofitel ignored our feedback emails
Had to write this because sofitel sentosa and wedding coordinator - Veronica Ann - did not even bother to respond with courtesy email despite following up no less than 4 times. I held my wedding at sofitel sentosa Oct 2020
1. Veronica Ann was quick to reject the various things we proposed and provided no alternatives to avhieve our objectives..can hardly recall now but one of it is about onsite photo taking and doing march in rehearsals
2. Veronica Ann did not arrange for finalization meeting. We were the one who reached out as date is approaching and many items pending finalization
3. She provided us a short list of wedding flavours of which the 2 items we selected are out of stock. Considering that we only need 25 pieces each item (50guests). Cant they do simple stock check before producing the list?
4. We were woken up at 9am on the 2nd morning because there were works done directly outside my balcony (ie beside where we sleep). Some worker was digging the soil with a spade repeatedly. We recorded it down and sent to sofitel. And they did not even bother to respond.
5. It took them 2 weeks to reply to our email enquiring on availability of venue. And when they got back there was no word of apology. When told her that we thought we wont get a response as we sent 2 follow up emails across 2 weeks. Veronica, as a matter of factly, asked if she could still continue to share what she had to share.
6. We witnessed a staff using sanitizing liquid to chase peacocks away at kwee zeen (breakfast place).
7. Staff repeatedly knocked over the deco at the banquet
8. We ordered food for our videographer and got an email confirmation from veronica. On that day, was told no such order placed. We showed our confirmation email before food was prepared. Our videographer had his dinner really late because of this.
I am still appalled by how i sent no less than 4 emails to sofitel generic email and to veronica ann, and got not a single response.
Positive feedback - ops manager (nicholas) running the ground that day was very very helpful.
Below Service Expectations
We had our wedding on 4 November 2017. We'll like to share this so that people could make their own assessment and plan for their wedding.
1) Coordination meeting timing
- We were initially planned to meet with the relevant parties (events coordinator, banquet manager) at 5pm to confirm the evening's events, but this did not take place until 530-545pm as time had to be spent to gather all the required personnel.
- This caused a delay to when we could test out our laptop with the AV system (which did run into some problems) and also clashed with our solemnization planned at 6pm.
2) Wet Weather Contingency Plan
- Rajoo arranged to have the tea ceremony held at an indoor place as the sky got dark and starting raining. As the initial plan was to have the tea ceremony at the outdoor solemnization area. However, the staff seems to be really slow in response that my family and guests moved the chairs indoors instead. More initiative and attentiveness should be exercised.
3) Banquet food service
a. Pre-cocktail
- There were many young temp staff. I have no issues with them as they have a lot of vibes and cheerfulness. But they passed the following comment which it is not appropriate - "we would keep the macaroons so that we could eat it later".
b. Dinner Banquet
- Experienced staff needed especially those serving the VIP table
- Food service was very slow, with 30-40 minutes between each dish and some dishes were served cold. This applies to both VIP and guest tables. It left the impression that the bride took a long time to change her gown when it is not true.
- Drinks were not topped up promptly.
- Last 3 dishes were served in a rush. This is not the kind of experience you want your guests to have.
- As a result, several guests had to leave between the 5th to 6th dish in order to catch the shuttle bus out of Sentosa.
- Additionally the slow food service also meant that the bride and groom were kept waiting at the dressing room area without food.
4) Food for bride and groom
- There was no food left over after the wedding banquet for the bride and groom, which we believe is the usual practice for other wedding banquets.
- Thankfully, Rajoo offered to put our room service orders after the dinner under his tab after some discussion.
- We were also not made aware that there was a pre-wedding menu available to us until the next day.
5) Dressing room
- We were led to understand that the bridal dressing room was to be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis on that day itself, however the room was unfortunately booked out for a corporate event (which did not take place until Monday).
- The original alternative offered was the Ginger room downstairs, which is not particularly accessible for a bride dressed up in heels and ballroom gown.
- Fortunately Joseph and his team were able to offer Saffron Ballroom as a makeshift dressing room instead, which we are thankful for.
6) Wedding Favours
- Not all of the wedding favours were taken by our guests as we were the last to leave. So we had no idea why the remaining wedding favours were not returned back to us.
I think the wedding event and banquet was below expectations especially given the expense. The location and facilities are amazing and the subsequent short staycation we had was wonderful, however we believe that more can be done to improve the overall experience.

Home away from home
If you are looking for exquisite and impeccable service, this is the place to be. All our requests were met and we felt extremely pampered during our time at the resort.
Food is superb with a large variety and our all time favourite is the Sunday Brunch.
You will not feel neglected anywhere in the place. BUT only to feel you are totally in paradise and neglected from the hustle and bustle of the city.
