Today's bride and groom embarked on their journey as a couple during their study in Shanghai 6 years ago. Edsel was Velin's senior and had noticed her for a while but only got the chance to strike a conversation during a trip arranged by their mutual friend. "He was helping me to take pictures and that was the start of our long chats," shared Velin.
After 4 years of dating, Edsel decided to arrange a secret proposal to his longtime beau with the help of her colleagues. "It was during a trip to Borobudur and not that I'm aware that he had planned this proposal beforehand. We had a plan to see the sunrise and I was busy taking photos of the beautiful view from where I was standing. When I turned to my back, there he was down on one knee with a ring asking me to be his wife," she reminisced. "And it was an easy 'yes' as I cried out of happiness," she added.
The wedding planning took them a year with a memorable story about their pre-wedding photo shoot in between. "Before such an important photoshoot, Edsel had to break his ankle a month before. Thankfully even with all the drama that happened, we were still able to take good photos. My thanks goes to Cappio Photography for sure," said Velin.
The one-year prep came with all its ups and downs but they successfully had their dream wedding came to life. The father-daughter dance quickly became her favorite moment, before the first dance which came right after. "Seeing how happy and satisfied our parents were with what we prepared for the wedding day, also all the happiness and smiles around me really comforted me," she said.
For her wedding dress, Velin wanted nothing but a dress that personified her character deeply. Thus, she trusted the renowned Indonesian designer, Yogie Pratama. "She looked elegant and posh at the same time with a long-sleeved sabrina dress for the holy matrimony. The reception gown beautifully defined her, a simple and sophisticated bodice with an intricate bottom," shared one of the bridesmaids. Edsel has always been a fan of Tulus, a celebrated Indonesian singer, so Teman Hidup became an easy pick for their wedding playlist. Through every frame, we can tell how the reception went beyond what they had expected, with friends and family coming from all over the world to celebrate this union.
Reflecting back on their experience, here is a useful tips for all brides and grooms-to-be, "Be really selective in choosing vendors and pick ones you have chemistry with. The right vendors will make you feel relaxed and stress-free during the big day. Moreover, don't think about anything else during that moment, unless that you are marrying the love of your life."
