The Wedding of Ryan & Andrew at Tirtha Bali
by Tirtha Bali

Updated on 16 October 2024, Bali

Ryan and Andrew's journey to their wedding day is a profound testament to love's resilience. Their paths first crossed through work, and as the solitude of the pandemic enveloped the world, Ryan and Andrew found their relationship deepening. Their bond faced its first major test when a flood swept through Ryan's home in Alberta, Canada, displacing her and her cat. Choosing to face the upheaval together, they moved in sooner than planned. Though life often deviates from our carefully laid plans, in their case, it only strengthens their foundation. Two years later, on the day they took possession of their new home, Andrew proposed to Ryan. Surrounded by the soft glow of candles and the scent of rose petals, the engagement carried a symbolic weight, highlighted by their house number, "222," representing new beginnings. This number became a recurring symbol in their lives, even tattooed on their ring fingers and chosen as their wedding date, February 22, to honor its meaning. Yet, the journey to the altar was not without obstacles. Andrew's life-threatening accident presented another formidable challenge, confronting them with the fragility of life. His battle for survival, marked by a series of emergency surgeries and the daunting prospect of a life forever altered, drew Ryan closer, cementing her role as his unwavering support. Their wedding celebrations—three in total—were a response to the near-loss experiences they endured. A surprise celebration in Mexico, an intimate elopement in Bali, and a legal ceremony in Canada, each marked a step in their journey of healing. Ryan explains, "When people ask why we're having three weddings, it's because I love our love. Each time, it heals a part of me that we almost lost it. And we thought we wouldn’t have even one." The Bali elopement stood out for its intimacy, featuring a green and white color scheme. The elegance of white hydrangeas, orchids, peony mums, baby's breath, and ruscus underscored a theme of simplicity and sophistication. “I wouldn’t change a thing about doing the wedding just the two of us, as we had no other concerns to worry about except each other,” Ryan recalled, “We didn’t have to worry if people were having a good time. It was all focused on us and our love.” The efforts of the wedding planners not only ensured a seamless event but also provided solace in times of stress. Their thoughtful gestures, like sending uplifting photos to the couple's hospital room, exemplified their dedication, making the celebration feel as effortless as it was magical. The attentiveness of the staff, the exquisite culinary offerings, and the seamless execution of the day's events made Ryan and Andrew feel like royalty, their every desire gracefully fulfilled. The magic of the venue, with its tranquil beauty, created an ambiance that is 'one can only experience but never fully describe.'
