This lovely Dutch wedding couple fell in love with Sicily, Italy when they visited the Mediterranean island for the first time. The groom was especially a fan of the Godfather trilogy. Getting married in Sicily and having the wedding dinner and party in the town of Savoca, just asked for some Godfather touches. It turned out to be a beautiful wedding day in September 2018. The guests were in for some awesome surprises as the wedding couple did not reveal much more beforehand than the fact that the wedding was going to take place in Sicily. The weddingplanners welcomed the guests at Catania Airport on a sunny Saturday morning. The transfer from the airport to the characteristic town of Savoca turned out to be a real treat for the guests passing beautiful sights and the majestic Etna Vulcano. The wedding couple welcomed the guests with real Sicilian appetizers at breathtaking Borgo San Rocco Resort in Savoca. And that was only the beginning of a truly outstanding wedding weekend in Sicily! Sunday morning at sunrise we all started to prepare for what was going to be a unique wedding day for the guests and obviously for the wedding couple and their two lovely kids. In Italy the preferable wedding day is Sunday – which is viewed as the luckiest day for marriage and signifies fertility and prosperity. Only 7 years ago the wedding couple could not have imagined to experience so much happiness. Their little son was seriously ill and only a MIRACLE saved him. Now they were here to celebrate their special day together with their families, close friends and, most important their two beautiful children. A truly majestic wedding ceremony was held at 5* Belmond Grand hotel Timeo in Taormina, overlooking mount Etna and the azure blue sea at one side and the ancient Greek theatre as dramatic backdrop on the other side. The sun was shining bright and love was in the air when the couple tied the knot. The children signed the marriage certificate thus ensuring a perfect wedding celebration. A wedding photo shoot at the Greek theatre followed by a shoot at the beachfront of Belmond Grand hotel Sant Andrea concluded our time at the beautiful town of Taormina. Just like celebrities we drove in a Rolls Royce cabriolet from Taormina to Savoca. A toast to the just married couple was made at Bar Vitelli in Savoca, the site where Michael Corleon proposed to Apollonia. A traditional Sicilian band performing Godfather songs welcomed the wedding couple and their guests at Borgo San Rocco. A delicious dinner followed by an unforgettable party and magical fireworks concluded a perfect wedding day in our beloved Sicily.
