"QUERENCIA" is a Fall/Winter 2022 couture collection presented by an Indonesian fashion based designer, Emily Kumala Putri, who took inspiration from the story of a famous chinese legend called the "Legend of the white snake". QUERENCIA – a place from which one’s strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self. The title “QUERENCIA" represents the lady of the story, Bai Su Zheng, who is a half serpent, half human, beautiful, kind, smart and courageous woman. The legend tells a story of a white snake demon disguised as a lady who marries a kind hearted fellow, Xu Xian, Where comes a demon disguised as a monk who tries to sabotage their affection by exposing Bai Su Zheng's true self Despite the tough moments and several sabotages attempts the couple had to face, The continued to persevere courageously and intelligently in order to protect their love. Inspired by this fairytale, the designer aims to exhibit strong, statement characters while maintaining the romantic and aesthetic side of the story through her garment pieces. The involvement of intricate details, handwork, textures and craftsmanship, the designer aims to maximize these looks and express the aesthetic she aims for this collection The designer aims to portray what Bai Su Zheng would be like if she were painted modern. Strong, statement yet romantic and elegant. She also aims to inspire other women to think like Baisuzhen, handle issues with elegance, intelligence and perseverance amidst the storms in order to protect what you truly root for.
