If you're thinking of a waterfront wedding not too far away from home with all the creature comforts of resort living, look no further than Treasure Bay Bintan. The year-old integrated waterfront development provides a full range of wedding services with capacity to cater up to 400 guests. Best of all, it's a mere 1-hour ferry-ride away from Singapore – something your older relatives would approve of.
Waterside wedding
We had the privilege of being invited to a private wedding ceremony at the resort and witnessed for ourselves what a Treasure Bay wedding looks like. For the solemnisation, we were ushered to a well-manicured grassy space along the bank of the man-made water lagoon where rows of chairs were arranged facing a platformed pavilion for the bride and groom to stand on.
There are many ways the couple (or bride) can make their grand entrance to the venue – on a cool vintage car, electric scooter, sea plane, boat or custom-made acrylic walkway, so you can walk on water across the 6.3 hectare salt water Crystal Lagoon, just like adorable couple Shah and Michelle!
If you tie the knot at sunset, you can enjoy the cool evening breeze at cocktail hour and all through dinner. Depending on your theme and preference, you can either hold your reception indoors in the glass-paneled Meeting Room with a sit-down capacity of 120, or outdoors at The Patio which is flexible with its seating plans and capacity. We highly recommend the latter which offers guests the freedom to move around and enjoy the alfresco atmosphere which tucking into a buffet or barbecue dinner.
The beauty of holding a wedding at Treasure Bay Bintan is that everything is customisable with package prices that start from S$68 per guest. A typical bridal package includes one-night stay at The Canopi Resort bridal tent-suite, breakfast for two, red carpet set-up at reception, wedding guest book and favours for everyone, plus free-flow soft drinks. If you're not keen on a buffet, there are options for Chinese or Indonesian set menus.
You may also add on other essentials from their ala carte menu of bridal services which include floral arrangements, arches, table settings, special light effects, entertainment, marriage celebrants, emcee, tent rentals, music and sound system, and special activities like lantern-releasing.
Where to stay
At the moment, The Canopi Resort serves as lodging for wedding guests with 40 luxury safari-inspired tent suites (and another 60 to be built next year) priced from S$190 per night. All tents are fully air-conditioned with a four poster king-sized bed, LCD TV, sofa bed, barbecue pit, sisal carpet, outdoor bathroom, and private garden and patio. There are some units that even come with a whirlpool outdoor tub!
For the couple-to-be, the resort will put them up in a specially decorated bridal suite tent with scattered rose petals and complimentary bottle of champagne.
Very soon guests will be also able to check-in to the adjacent Chiva Som Bintan – a wellness facility built with 70 rooms, 34 luxury villas and its award-winning wellness centre. More news on its opening to come soon!
