A new year is like a brand new book with blank pages. What stories will you write this year? How will you fill the 356 days? How about filling it with stories of self love? Here are five New Year's resolutions to empower you to be the better version of yourself.
If you don't like it, leave it
Many of us find ourselves stuck in between something we don't really like and the hesitation to to leave and move on. Do you feel like you're trapped in a job doing work stuff related to numbers and letters while all you really want to do is bake goodies from bread, cookies to cakes? Maybe this year is the best time for you to follow your heart and do what you really love to do. You would probably tap into some of your old passion and make it worthy by turning it into a work that you love.
Try something new
Try doing something you really wanted to try for years! Maybe you can't drive a car, it's time to get the license and hit the road (responsibly and very carefully). Or maybe you're dying to try horse-riding, or knitting, or learning French? Stop holding yourself back and start trying new things. You'll never know the true extent of your ability unless you try things, and creating a new hobby can bring a new dimension to your life.
Take a good care of yourself
You've been busy with everyday stuff like college, work, house chores and everything in between. Junk food is your go-to everyday meals, plans to exercise never happen, and getting pampered in a spa is something you've been missing for like a hundred years. This year is the chance to give yourself a better care. Eat good food mindfully, get yourself a membership at the gym near your office or home, and make an appointment at spa every once in a month.
Finish what you've started
How many times we pick newer projects, newer goals, that felt more exciting than something that we had started but had not finished yet? It could be as simple as the book you've been dying to read but then left under your bed for months with the bookmark stuck on page fifteen. Or, the blog posts that stay on your draft for weeks. The greatest challenge when working on something without a clear deadline is to finish it. So, before the year hits 2016, let's finish the unfinished business and have a fresh start.
Show more compassion
In this crazy world, we need more kindness here and there and kindness starts nowhere but from yourself. There is no greater joy than making someone happy. Try doing some random acts of kindness to random people. Start with small gesture that is much appreciated but you know it doesn't take much extra effort. For example, open the door for someone; give your seat on the bus to an elderly person or a parent with small child; donate blood; buy the cab driver a hot cup of coffee… the possibilities are endless to what you can do for others. Repeat these things often, make them habits of yours. You wouldn't know that kind of acts may inspire anyone else.
