It was a light-hearted wedding with a touch of nostalgia for sweethearts Leonard and Ai Ling. After almost 12 years of dating, the couple finally celebrated their union with two ceremonies in Johor Bahru and Singapore respectively.
They centred their wedding around old school memories, with doses of vintage toys and childhood snacks. "Leonard is a child at heart. He is obsessed with chapteh, marbles, guns and catapults. We are very fond of our childhood memories and the nostalgia of kampung," Ai Ling revealed.
The couple's ceremony in the bride's hometown of Kluang, Johor Bahru, was characterised by a fun photo-session shot by Ray Gan against the rustic Kluang Rail Coffee and vivid blue skies.
Back in Singapore, the newlyweds held another set of festivities for family and friends, where Leonard embraced his inner child by showing up with his band of brothers in coordinated basketball uniforms.
They held their solemnisation and banquet at Goodwood Park Hotel. "We were looking for heritage hotels and were charmed by its colonial style décor. More importantly, the hotel held beautiful memories for my in-laws"
The solemnisation channeled a vibrant atmosphere beside the hotel's outdoor pool, with colourful pom-poms hanging and bright flowers. A spread of old-school snacks and children's activity books brought the newlyweds and their guests back to the good ol' days.
Looking sweet in a white off-shoulder capelet over bustier gown with embellished bodice from Z Wedding, Ai Ling wore her hair in curls topped with a floral crown arranged from fresh flowers. Leonard complemented his wife in a matching white suit lined in black, accentuated by grey lapels.
After a heartfelt exchange of vows which brought many to tears, the couple shared their bliss with a lavish dinner reception in the hotel's ballroom. "I kind of miss it now, despite all the mishaps involved in preparing for the big day," Ai Ling reminisced. "It was surreal, and I felt like a princess in a fairytale."
