Indonesian Traditional Health and Beauty Tips For Brides

Warna:

No matter how advanced the beauty technology and approaches these days, there will always be something delightful and sanctified about traditional treatments, especially in a country rich in cultures like Indonesia. One of the biggest allures in Indonesia beauty treatment experiences is how the spa can effortlessly blend the natural setting, tropical ingredients, and techniques in harmony. The experience is focused not only in physical, but also spiritual indulgence. Here we've rounded up 5 traditional health and beauty treatments especially important for all the brides-to-be in order to unwind before the big day and honeymoon trip.

1. Mandi Susu (Milk Bath)

As a traditional beauty bath, Mandi Susu has been used by Javanese princesses for centuries as an elixir of youth. It has been known to soften and purify the skin. The milk is from goats, sheep, or cows. The taste and smell of the milk have been extracted out, but they maintain the softening proteins. It is suggested that the bride-to-be soaks in for at least 20 minutes and not rinse after the soaking.

2. Mandi Lulur (Coating Bath)

Mandi lulur has also been practiced in the Javanese palaces since the 17th century. This bathing ritual is an exfoliation and polishing of the body that leaves the skin soft, supple, and shiny. The exfoliation and massage process involves a paste made of herbs and other ingredients (such as turmeric, temulawak, sandalwood, jasmine oil, and rice powder) that have been soaked in water and blended into a scrub.

3. Balinese Boreh

This treatment is used both as curative and a preventive health treatment. Balinese Boreh is used to warm the body with heating sensation as the treatment of headaches, muscle aches, arthritis, and chills. This scrub is a mixture between herb and spice – with the ingredients of sandalwood, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, coriander, turmeric, nutmeg, and rice powder formed into a paste with galangal water or spice scented oil.

4. Mandi Bunga (Floral Bath)

Floral baths are considered as a highlight of Indonesian traditional spa. A bathtub of warm water, stirred up with petals of jasmine, gardenia, hibiscus, magnolia, bougainvillea and rose, is a finale treatment to a traditional spa session. It is to savor the cleansing experience.

5. Herbal Wraps

Herbal Wrap is used to draw out impurities from the body and heal any blemishes on the skin's surface by using mud as a base and the mud is then combined with milk, turmeric, herbs, and sesame oil which gives off a wonderful smell as it is applied to the skin.
