When it comes to your future in-laws, you want to do all that you can in order to get on their best side. However, often times the focus tends to be on doing things to impress both the father and mother in-law simultaneously. 1. Talk about how great his son is. When it comes to impressing the father in-law it helps to heighten his man pride by letting him know just how awesome of a son your partner is. Talking about how great his son is – is the equivalent of talking about what a great father he is that your partner has grown into such an amazing man. Making the father in-law feel good and proud of his son as well of his fatherly abilities will immediately put you in a good seat.
2. Be respectful. There are two major things in life that all men want and need and these are appreciation and respect. In step 1, you have managed to show appreciation (him as a father) and now it's time to show him respect. So, never under any circumstances should you be rude or disrespect him in any way.
3. Show your fun side. Whereas with the mother in-law you might want to tone down your 'fun' and 'carefree' side – when it comes to the father in-law, you actually have room to let your hair down a bit more. Showing that you have a great personality and can generally have a good time will show him that his son has made the right choice in picking someone who can have fun and not be too rigid.

5. Be kind and sweet towards his wife. Nothing will impress a father in-law more than seeing his wife being happy with you as the future daughter in-law. Show that you are making an effort to get to know your mother in-law and show how much you care about being a part of the family.
