No need for the big banquet in a posh ballroom or fancy bridal package and pre-wedding album. High school sweethearts Daniel Koh and Joelle Ngerng kept everything fuss-free and comfortable, with outfits purchased online and matching Converse shoes, for their beach wedding at East Coast Park's Mana Mana Restaurant & Bar.
Working together with the restaurant's manager, they hosted a casual theme-free celebration for a whopping 300 guests. "The package only required a minimum spend and included a buffet dinner, décor, "live" band, and lighting and sound," lists Joelle. They spent a little extra to order 50 bottles of wine and four barrels of beer, and fairylights for the trees, which lent a dreamy air to the laid-back atmosphere.
They tied the knot at sunset and the party kicked off with good music, speeches and an open mic session for guests to come up and perform. The free-seating event allowed for guests to chair and table hop, or stand if they wished, much like a party. "We just wanted a simple casual affair where everyone can let their hair down and enjoy themselves."
