Despite her young age, Cynthia Tan has already won awards and accolades for her elegant designs. Back in her school days, Cynthia was even a runner-up in a fashion design competition held during Jakarta Fashion Week 2012. She was also given a Golden Needle Award as the best fashion designer when she graduated from the prestigious ESMOD International Fashion University. Cynthia then continued her studies at Istituto Marangoni London after she received a full scholarship from Jakarta Fashion Week.
Her talents shone even brighter after she started her own brand in 2013. In the very same year, Cynthia's designs were selected as the Best Design for the Mazda Indonesia International Motor Show. She had the opportunity to work together both from local and international artists. Despite her achievements, Cynthia always puts her customers first when designing a new outfit. She always spends time get to know her customers well, finding out what they want along with the designs that will suit their personality.
According to Cynthia, each woman is made differently, with their own unique style and characteristics. That's why following trends becomes less important to Cynthia than enhancing her customer's own beauty and personality. Cynthia wants every customer to feel confident and comfortable in her creations, especially when they've trusted her to creating the wedding dress of their dreams.
Cynthia is known for elegant and glamorous designs that incorporate hand-embroidered details. "I use materials that are unusual, instead of fabrics that are commonly available in the market. I particularly like hand embroidery because I can make any kind of pattern that I like," said Cynthia. She admits that each dress requires a lot of time and attention, but her hard work becomes worthwhile as soon as she sees the end results.
In the future, Cynthia Tan plans to expand her business internationally to show how local Indonesian designers are no less talented than international designers. She also hopes that one day; she will have the opportunity to dress up A-list stars in her evening gowns.
