If you're a couple with a sense of adventure and wanderlust, then apply your love for globe-trotting to your wedding décor. Newlyweds Cody and Sue-e worked with Jamie Seah of I Do Weddings Parties to make the all-white confines of Food for Thought restaurant at The National Museum of Singapore come alive with all things travel and vintage. Seah shows us how she gave this spartan venue more character with a few props and craftwork.
Name tables after your favourite countries
Instead of a table-seating chart, how about using a map to navigate your guests to their seats? First pick out names for the tables and stick the guests' names on a map.
Recycle old maps
If you love travel as much as Cody and Sue-e, then you've probably amassed a large collection of maps. Apply them to the wedding décor: A large canvas map can used for the photowall backdrop or tablecloth for the reception area. Dig up old National Geographic maps and cut them into paper buntings.
Throw in some hot wheels
Travelling doesn't always have to be plane-related. Display some wheels if you can hijack a few figurines like an Oriental Express train or a vintage Volkswagen kombi van.
Bring on the large props
Make sure your décor offers a lot of variety in terms of size. To balance out the smaller details, add larger pieces like a stack of suitcases, mail boxes, globes and statues of iconic landmarks.
Make dozens of paper planes
What's a wedding without a little DIY? Jamie applied her love for DIY and handicraft by folding dozens of papers planes to hang under the rails of the restaurant's mod chandeliers.
Add elements of yourself
Not everything has to be about travel. Jamie framed pictures of happy couple and displayed them throughout the restaurant, including a Double Happiness sign and other romantic trinkets, to make the venue more homely.
