There's just something about DIY weddings we love so much. Maybe it's the careful curation of props, décor designed with heart or just the friendships that have strengthened over the planning process. Much like Alistair White and Belinda Hubball laidback wedding in an Aussie B&B, brought to life with colourful crafts.
The graphic-designer bride took on the role of planner-decorator and convinced a few guests to partake in a champagne-fuelled "crafternoon" to help with the décor. "We carried the colour theme through most of the decorations — 25m of bunting made by my talented mum, 200 paper octahedrons to hang from the outdoor gazebo, vintage toy animals for place holders and a delicious rainbow cake made by my best friend's husband," the bride shares.
Their memorable weekend took place at the quaint Eumundi's Hidden Valley Bed & Breakfast, where all 30 guests stayed the night. They sealed their union in the gazebo adorned with colourful paper decorations and fresh flowers purchased from the nearby market.
The bride looked splendid in a 1970s-inspired long-sleeved, lace-panelled maxi-dress, while the groom looked polished in a cobalt-blue ensemble, complete with a stylish mustard-yellow bow and handmade felt-pompon boutonnière.
Everyone tucked into a typically Aussie spread of roast meats and salads on the verandah, while canapés were served in the garden. Yard games like quoits and croquet followed, and the festivities were accompanied by "live" music by local guitarist Ben Oliver till sundown.
