The vibrant city of London – where the groom pursued his Masters – was the inspiration for Wei Jie and Kelly's elegant wedding at the Fullerton Hotel. The colonial stylings of the venue set the scene for a truly Brit affair complete with London-themed Kit Kat wrappers, High Street photo booth backdrop and a miniature London Tower Bridge made with over 4,000 pieces of Lego!
The grandeur of the location also provided a lovely backdrop for an outdoor photo session, and gate-crashing held along the Singapore River, where the groomsmen donned Stormtrooper masks, and the groom – Darth Vader of course. The bride's fave colour pink was applied to the bridesmaids' skirts, groomsmen neckties and hand bouquet made with pink carnations.
The couple proceeded with tea ceremony at the hotel's roof terrace, and solemnisation at the Straits Room, furnished with soft creamy tones and filled with a romantic palette of nude-coloured flowers. The bride flitted down the aisle in a custom-made ballgown with illusion neckline and lace appliqué, while the groom charmed in a three-piece dove grey suit, both by The Wedding Present.
A lavish lunch banquet for 180 guests soon followed at the Fullerton Ballroom, decorated with romantic street lamps and ornaments like London's iconic red phonebooth, mailbox and double-decker bus. Guests enjoyed a series of videos of the couple's proposal and highlights of the morning activities, listened to speeches and enjoyed soothing 'live' music performed by A Little Dream.
For her second change, Kelly made a stunning entrance in a hot pink drop-waist evening gown with pleated bodice. "I told Patrick of The Wedding Present that I wanted a really eye-catching but elegant pink dress. He did a great job – the pleats on the bodice are simple yet flattering," she describes.
"Due to our tight schedule we decided to do everything at the hotel and avoid stressing over last minute logistical issues. Everything turned out the way I imagined it and I am glad I had all the right people to make it possible!" gushes Kelly.
