Back in 2014, Maria Ruth Fernanda launched her first ready-to-wear collection, Marufe, in Jakarta. Since then, she has showcased her couture collections in many prestigious fashion events, such as the Jakarta Fashion Week, Vancouver Fashion Week, and Paris Fashion Week. Just recently, she also had the chance to dress Miss Indonesia 2016 in the international pageant competition, Miss World 2016.
Despite her achievements in ready-to-wear fashion and couture, bridal fashion holds a special meaning for Maria. "My designs incline towards elegance rather than avant-garde, thus the wedding industry is a sweet spot where I can create romantic couture dresses that rhyme with my aesthetics," she explained.
As a newcomer in the wedding industry, Maria has quickly won the hearts of many brides-to-be across the country. Her dresses manage to meld recent trends with her distinctive style. "I don't bluntly digest trends, I always try to make my own rendition instead," said Maria. "I filter trends based on what matches my brand image, then I try to tweak each one to suit my own signature style," she continued.
