The invitation card is a part of your wedding that you can have a little fun with, but we think it's wiser to apply your creativity to the design rather than the text in it. Follow these tips to wording an invite tastefully and effectively.

Simple, Short and Sweet

Keep to the basics and ensure that you list all necessary information — names, date, time and venue, and, not forgetting, the RSVP details. Refrain from getting longwinded or using fanciful language — you don't want to risk confusing your guests.

Tone and Spelling

It's not a must to keep to a formal style of writing. If you are having a casual celebration, by all means, adapt your choice of words to go with the mood of the event, but do avoid getting overly clever with it. Remember to proofread the text carefully — mistakes in spelling, numbers or dates could prove embarrassing or even costly.

Optional Details

You might want to include info about the dress code, especially if you are holding a themed do or a formal black-tie event. A note or simple map to help your guests locate the venue will also be helpful should it be in an area that is difficult to navigate. The only things you should never mention in your invite — gifts, ang pows or your registry.
