For Sterling and Yiu Ming, it was important for all 180 guests to witness their solemnisation ceremony and celebrate it with a dinner reception and all-night dancing. And you couldn't ask for a better wedding venue than Chijmes Hall, an exquisitely restored Gothic-styled 19th-century chapel with beautiful high ceilings and detailed stained glass windows.
With a string quartet playing in the background, the music echoed throughout the chapel and elevated everyone's spirit, especially Yiu Ming, who was dressed in a classic princess ballgown with a plunging back from La-Vie Bridal. Her dashing groom turned heads in a smart black suit with white trimmings and red accessories. Next to him stood the best man — a Scot —dressed in a kilt, no less!
A four-course plated dinner was served almost immediately after the couple officially tied the knot. For the sweet-toothed, they were treated to an array of citrus-coloured confectionery from ET Artisans that included macarons, parfaits, cupcakes, tarts, pralines and more.
After the ceremonial toast, cake-cutting and speeches, Sterling invited Yiu Ming to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. "We took five lessons from a dance instructor who choreographed the dance sequence to Crazy Little Thing Called Love. We practised almost every day leading up to the wedding!" laughs Yiu Ming. After that, the guests were invited to tear up the dance floor to the beats of DJ Kevin Gill.
To assist with the preparations, the couple sought help from wedding planner Hannah Chong of Heaven's Gift and photographer Darryl Chan of Tinydot Photography. "Darryl is very professional and prompt, yet so chatty and easy-going; he feels almost like an old friend. We chose him because he portrays people very well in his portfolio which was a priority for us, and he didn't disappoint," affirms the bride.
