Luke and Kathleen had known each other since high school and it was on the second year that he told her he liked her. Their relationship evolved as time goes and last summer, the Philadelphia singer wrote an original song titled 'Old Love' to propose to his high-school sweetheart. He finally showed her the song and as it reached the drum break, Luke got down on one knee and proposed to Kathleen.
As Kathleen is a DJ, it was a customary in their relationship to support each other's artistic pursuits. So, they come up with a wonderful idea that will make their wedding truly unforgettable. "Since the song worked so well for the proposal, why not incorporate it in the wedding somehow?" Kathleen said. They have been making music videos for Luke's songs since the beginning so, keeping with tradition, they decided to turn the wedding into a music video for the song.
The original idea was for the end of the ceremony to be the beginning of the video. After being officially pronounced husband and wife, the couple would walk towards the camera with the music playing, while their loved ones danced along behind them. "It sounds pretty easy, but Mother Nature has other plans. It ended up turning completely dark and torrential rain fell right at the very end of the ceremony!" Kathleen reminisced. "Hairstyles were ruined and makeup was running but when everyone made it to safety inside the barn, all you could see were smiles," said the bride.
The sun reappeared after the storm and reserved a cool summer night for the wedding. As you can see, all the guests danced, laughed, celebrated and finally, joined in for take two of the music video shoot on the dance floor. "Our goal is to share our story and spread joy, love and positivity. My husband has always had those messages within his music and we're super stoked about this sort of unique approach to a music video," Kathleen explained.
