"You may now kiss the bride." Aaah, the kiss – the one ritual you've been looking forward to. When else do you get to lock lips while a keen crowd looks on approvingly? Have your guests whistling with these tips that prevent you from falling on either side of the kiss spectrum; a passionless peck or a sloppy make-out.

Take your time

Rushing in for the anticipated kiss could cause you to bump teeth, nudge noses (ouch!) or more embarrassing, miss each other entirely. Approach your partner deliberately and ease into it to celebrate your matrimony.

Tilt your head

We've seen way too many couples pucker up, smash their faces head on and look fishes in heat in the process! Perhaps a few selfie sessions can determine how far to cock your head one side. Practice makes perfect and reaps many health benefits too. Wink, wink!

Close your eyes

With many pairs of eyes looking at you, your anxiousness might have you sneak a peek at your audience and lose the moment. Remember, you only get one shot. Focus like it was your first kiss (remember how much you wanted to impress?).

No tongue please

Julia (Drew Barrymore) from the movie, 'The Wedding Singer' has probably given the best advice: "Not porno tongue. Church tongue." You wouldn't want to start making your guests feel awkward, especially not with your grandma there. A gentle and tender kiss seals the deal and it should be short enough to not make anyone feel uncomfortable but long enough for your photographer and you to capture the moment. This isn't the time for tongue cardio!

Don't shy away from the closeness

A little space to breathe is nice amidst all your wedding stress and drama but not for this moment. You should be very close to your other half. I'm talking about your bodies almost touching so your lips don't have to pucker the distance.

Don't forget your hands

Don't look like you're forced to smooch with a replica of Pinocchio. You wouldn't look like you are enjoying the moment. Play it up a bit by embracing each other or by simply holding hands. Guys, go for the waists and ladies, you could place your hands on his shoulders. Careful not to go overboard and grope each other.

Avoid dramatic musical effects

The key is in keeping it simple. Just because you love music doesn't mean you hire an orchestra, an organist and three trumpeters to announce The Kiss. You're only going to distract your guests and yourself with the sudden concerto. If you must, choose a song that aptly reflects your personalities like your special song, perhaps.
