While we are anxiously waiting for the second Royal baby's birthday, which is rumored to be due this week, the royal wedding anniversary of Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge is here! It feels just like yesterday when we fixed our eyes to the beautiful couple exchanging vow at the Westminster Abbey back in 2011. The bride's exquisite style is also still freshly etched to our mind, as we were being amazed by her modern fairytale princess look. So, while we are waiting for another exciting news, let's take a look back at Kate Middleton's inspiring bridal ensemble, from top to toe.
1. The wedding dress
Sarah Burton, the creative designer for Alexander McQueen, designed Kate's wedding dress. The design resembled another famous wedding dress, which was Grace Kelly's. Elegant and sophisticated, the long sleeved dress was made in ivory and white satin gazar. The ivory satin bodice was padded slightly at the hips and narrowed at the waist, inspired by the Victorian tradition or corsetry that is a particular Alexander McQueen hallmark. This style was quickly becoming one of the hottest bridal trends ever since that day.
2. The wedding shoes
The wedding shoes were designed by Sarah Burton – as to complement the wedding dress. They were made in ivory and white satin with hand-embroidered lace – matched well with the wedding dress.
3. The wedding bouquet
Kate's wedding bouquet was fully wired. It was dominated by lily of the valleys, Hyacinth blooms, ivy leaves, Sweet Williams and Myrtle. The flowers weren't randomly chosen. Each has deep and beautiful meanings. Lily of the valley reflects the character of trustworthy and the return of happiness. Sweet William stands for gallantry–and it shares the same name with her husband. Hyacinth represents constancy in love. Myrtle symbolizes the emblem of love and marriage; while Ivy stands for marriage, fidelity, friendship, and affection. Now that is one gorgeous good luck charm.
4. The wedding jewelry
On her wedding day, Duchess Catherine wore earrings that were created in collaboration of herself and her parents by Robinson Pelham Jewelers of London. It was made of 18-carat white gold and diamonds. As for the tiara, she looked impeccable in the Cartier 'Halo' Tiara, lent to her by the Queen.
5. The wedding band
This 18-carat gold wedding band was made from Welsh gold–which is valued for its quality and rarity. It was owned by the Royal Family as a long-standing tradition in the British Royal Family. The ring is a slender, plain yellow gold band without any accessory stones or decorative elements.
6. The wedding veil
Along with her tiara, Kate wore a veil by Alexander McQueen. It was made of silk tulle and trimmed in hand-embroidered flowers. The mid-length veil was light, airy, and feminine.
7. The nails
To match her fair skin tone, Kate's manicurist, Marina Sandoval combined the soft pink hue of Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Enamel in Rose Lounge and sheer beige shade from Essie Allure as her nail polish. She wanted something off-white, timeless and bridal-looking, so the color mix was perfect for her big day.
