The Luxe House is a relatively new spa house on Dempsey Hill that seeks to deliver a luxury wellness experience to the customer. Plus it's also a fabulously chic place to hold a hens sparty.
What sets them apart from other spas is their dedication to enhancing your wellness with their curated therapies – each treatment being specially created to suit the local climate, lifestyle, and culture, targeting health concerns that are specific to our tropical terrain.
I had the opportunity to experience their Royal Meridian Foot & Back Therapy, which is recommended for people who have chronic fatigue, anxiety symptoms, and backaches. The 100-minute treatment was packed with five stages of therapy that left me feeling extremely relaxed and refreshed at the end.
Starting with the Herbal Foot Bath, my masseuse, Li Rong, extended a soothing massage from my head to my hands that relieved me of all tension. After 10 minutes, she then moved on to the crux of the treatment – the Acupressure Foot Massage. Focusing on the acupuncture points which correspond to my organs, Li Rong expertly informed me of certain areas that my health may be lacking in.
This was followed by the oriental traditional foot cupping – a practice using the suction of glass jars to mobilise blood flow, rid the body of excess fluid, and promote body healing. I was a little apprehensive about it, but Li Rong kindly assured me that it wouldn't hurt one bit, and she was right! Apart from the interesting sensation of the jar being left on my feet for a short duration, there was nothing uncomfortable about it at all.
After 50 minutes of working on my feet, it was time to end the session with the Ultimate Back Press and Hot Stone Treatment. You may opt for a dry or wet back press, where you may choose from a range of five bespoke Luxe Blends – Muscular, Jet-lag, Sensitive, Metabolic, or Soothing. I chose Soothing for its lavender aroma that immediately relaxed my body and soothed my mind.
As a lover of strong massages, I thoroughly enjoyed the intensive back massage that eased muscle tension. It also released my lower back pressure, and is good for relieving fatigue and stiff neck as well. If you aren't such a fan of strong massages, just let your masseuse know and she will lower the pressure to your liking.
The Hot Stone Treatment was the perfect closure. Continuously filling my body with warmth as the stones were gently rolled across my back, it created a synergising effect with the back press, and maximised the therapeutic effect of the Luxe Blend that I chose.
At the end of the session, the oil did not make my back sticky or greasy at all, instead it moisturised my skin and left it feeling soft and smooth. A cup of warm water was served for me to rehydrate myself, and I left feeling light and rejuvenated.
