Channelling the emotions and colourful imagery from Pixar's animated movie Up, Mark and Magdalene transformed the InterContinental Singapore into a whimsical wonderland. "We chose the hotel for its plush interiors and classy atmosphere. The creamy palette was the perfect canvas for us to add lots of vibrant colour and detail," explains the bride.
After their morning solemnisation, they mingled with guests at the foyer of the Bugis Grand Ballroom decorated with pretty little things like candy-filled glass bottles, paper windmills, vintage typewriters and balloons, of course.
In the banquet hall, the couple had strung fluorescent light bulbs across the stage, a romantic set-up that resembled a shimmering Paradise Falls, the fictional location seen in Up. They even custom-made wedding-favour boxes that contained a map detailing their romantic journey to nuptial bliss.
On her walk down the aisle, Magdalene was a vision of loveliness in a Bridal Veil gown embroidered with lace-capped sleeves and frothy layers of tulle. The groom took her hand wearing a dapper three-piece tuxedo from The Men's Club, and accessorised with a polka-dot bow tie and orchid corsage.
All eyes were on them again later during the lunch banquet, where they had their first dance to the song I See the Light by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. It was a moment of déjà vu for them as the long-time sweethearts first met 10 years ago at Kranji Secondary School's folk dance night.
