Trending now are dainty wedding rings with intricately-carved designs, and conservatively-sized diamonds, as small as 0.2 carats. Yay, for the groom! But nay for us, as it's hard to find beautifully Bohemian designs in Singapore unless you try Venus Tears or Fairy's Inc . Here are some tips on how to choose the right rings for an impressive stack that you can switch around daily!

Thin bands are really hot now

Thinner and delicate rings look good when stacked and will still feel comfortable no matter how thick. Best of all, the light weight of the gold is many times cheaper than a wedding band. Plus it's really the perfect excuse to buy a new ring every year you are married!

A simple stone for easy pairing

The bigger or more fancy the diamond shape is, the harder it is to stack. Ideally, the engagement ring should have the same width as the stone or close enough, so that when other rings are stacked on top, they sit flushed with one another. Most stacked rings are set with linear-shaped stones like square, cushion, emerald or round, but if you love long shapes you can set them horizontally. It's very chic now!

The devil is in the details

Playing with texture or shape will keep your assortment cohesive and won't look boring or matchy-matchy. Go for intricate elements and artisanal handwork like millegrain, scalloping, hammering and brushing. You can wear plain bands mixed with others set with precious stones or try unique styles like chains, beading, filigree, laser cut-outs, braiding and horse-shoe styles. The list goes on and I haven't even talked about midi rings and cuff rings yet!

Don't be afraid to mix metals

It's perfectly fine to blend rose gold and yellow gold with soft hints of white gold. But try to avoid blending gold with other metal alloys because they will appear dirty next to gold. Buying a few rings from the same designer or brand will also help to keep your look together.

The key is balance

The rule to stacking is less is more. When they look overwhelmed is when you stop. I personally wear one ring on my index finger and maybe pinky, a tall elegant stack on my middle finger, two rings on my ring finger – the diamond ring and wedding band. This way, there is a sense of balance across the hand.
