Despite living in the urban city of Singapore, you don't really have to travel overseas with your guests for hosting a wedding by the seaside. Did you know that there are plenty of beachfront venues that are as mesmerizing as the ones on the tropical islands? The philosophy behind this styled shoot was born to leverage on Singapore's tropical features when creating your one-of-a-kind beach wedding. Keep reading as we share our experience during the planning of this styled shoot.
1. Picking the venue
A big load of a wedding is always about finding the right venue with every detail you have envisioned for your dream wedding. Just like Coastes that is located along the Siloso Beach, Sentosa. It has all that we can imagine, from palm trees to sandy beach, sun beds to rattan features that channel the resort vibes in an instant. Don't worry about the probability of a wet rainy day, Coastes is also able to house your guests inside their indoor area.
2. Choosing your wedding aesthetic
After checking off the venue, it is all about highlighting the accents of the venue through the florals and styling. A coherent aesthetic throughout the wedding sets the mood right for your wedding. The term "tropical" is widely used but there can be 10 different interpretations of a tropical wedding. Pick one that speaks to you best. Talk to your wedding stylist, the more you share, the closer they get to nailing the exact mood you wish for your wedding. Meanwhile, the main colors used throughout this styling were shades of blue, to represent the coastal sea and soft washes to balance the hardy tropical flowers also a spalsh of coral and powder pink to make up for the absence of a pink sandy beach.
For the ceremonial procession, the altar was made of a suspended arch in between palm trees. Moreover, such sturdy, exotic flowers were used to achieve a tropical interpretation, and they complemented asymmetrical ombre fabric drapes that represented the coastal lines. The combination of these two balanced out the textures and colors, which were applied throughout the various features of the styling.
Big and bold tropical bouquet was also seen with long trail of blue tie-dyed fabric. Another plus point of carrying out this tropical theme is how diverse the choice of tropical flowers that are available in Singapore.
On the VIP dining table, coastal elements were used as the runner such as driftwood, seafoam blue candles and aquamarine tiles as a place card.
The flowers used for the arch continued into the dessert table that was housed within the Boat House. Besides keeping the color scheme consistent, it is important to bring the right flavors into a beach wedding. Zesty and refreshing baked goods were prepared to counter the humidity here. The sweet corner features a three-tiered wedding cake with blue washes, adorned with the tropical flowers. There are even macarons that had palm leaves hand-painted on them. The furnishing like the rattan lampshades and wooden oak flooring play a huge part in channeling the coastal resort vibes that was key to the theme. They were complemented with rattan props on the table.
3. The stationery suite
This invitation suite design with palm motifs against turquoise and pink watercolor washes should set the guests' mood for a tropical wedding right away. Especially for a beach wedding, dress code is important as most people may not have attended one at the beach. Besides, you wouldn't want your guests to be at a beach wedding dancing with an inappropriate attire, right?
4. The bridal look
Dressing the bride and groom for an outdoor wedding is always tricky especially in a humid climate.
Let's ditch the huge ballgown to something easy to move around because dancing is expected. A flowy backless dress will enable the bride to dance the night away. Alternatively, a strapless mermaid silhouette dress will also become a perfect choice for the first dance. While the groom was clothed in light-weighted attire. The key is comfort and versatility, where he can switch around in blazer or vest.
To achieve the out-of-the-beach look while keeping it glam, natural, peach, and coral tones were used for the bride's makeup. For the hairdo, loose braids and beach waves looked equally elegant when paired with some hair accessories.
5. Documenting the day
How else could you relive those magical times that only happens once in a lifetime? These wedding moments aren't only important for you and your spouse-to-be, but also the loved ones who probably couldn't make it to the celebration. On top of making it look like an overseas shoot, both photographer and videographer in this styled shoot nailed the mood of the shoot by exuding the right amount of warmth and romance. It's truly a day to remember, isn't it?
