This wedding story isn't like any other stories, because it isn't only about the love between a man and a woman, but also between siblings. "Having my sister and my new brother-in-law beside us also made the day even better, it felt like a special family occasion," said Raras. It all began when Raras heard that her older sister, Garini, was planning to get married in early 2019. Coincidentally, Raras and her partner Malik also planned the same thing.
She then invited her sister for a double dinner date at a sushi restaurant so that she and Malik can speak to Garini and her partner Unggul about the timeline of their wedding. After a funny yet serious conversation, the four of them had exactly the same idea of combining their wedding on the same day. A few days later, the sisters talked to their parents and their respective partner's parents, and they were all very supportive of the idea.
"My sister and I were incredibly lucky because we had so much help from our family, especially from our aunt who was basically the main coordinator of the event," explained Raras. The main concept was a garden wedding. It has been Garini's dream to have a wedding ceremony in the garden, and as an architect, Raras also love places surrounded by nature. The two shared similar taste in most things related to their dream wedding, which made the wedding planning process easier.
"The most difficult part of the process was to decide the event rundown because the venue can only accommodate up to 500 people," recalled Raras. They had chosen Rumah Ranadi since it has an indoor and outdoor space to anticipate the possibility of rain. It was also only three minutes away from their aunt's house which became a basecamp for families to gather and get ready for the event.
After much discussion with their families and their wedding organizer, Amarta Wedding Organizer, they decided to have two days of the wedding celebration. On Saturday morning, the wedding ceremony continued with a family-only wedding reception will be held. That evening, the wedding reception of Garini and Unggul will take place, while Raras and Malik will celebrate theirs on Sunday evening.
All three events went beyond the sisters' expectations. "I thought it was going to be a tough and tiring weekend, but I was completely wrong. It was very fun!" exclaimed Raras. She advised future brides to prepare everything as soon as possible, list down every detail and be sure to choose vendors that fit their personalities.
