While Daniel Sia and Jill Sara wanted an intimate and no-frills wedding, personalisation was key to their lighthearted ceremony and brunch reception at The White Rabbit. The free-spirited couple kept true to themselves with personal touches, from a bespoke suit and gown to hand-drawn invitations and old-school toys and games, including White Rabbit sweets!
Lucky for them, they benefited from an amazing set-up of flowers, which was left behind from a previous event organised by the restaurant. "Their theme was 'Enchanted Garden'. How serendipitous! Of course we kept their décor in its entirety – it was so romantic with the fairy lights and hanging trellises," gushes the bride.
Against the old-world backdrop of the former chapel decorated with fairy lights and foliage, Jill strolled down the aisle in a white trumpet gown with a sweetheart neckline from The Gown Warehouse, adorned in intricate lace applique and beading. Choosing to take the walk alone and without a bouquet, Jill described the experience as liberating, despite being a little nervous.
Joined by Daniel in a three-piece royal blue suit from PIMABS worn with a checkered bow tie, the newlyweds exchanged their vows in front of 100 guests and was personally pronounced by Jill's father, who is an ordained reverend.
The solemnisation was celebrated with a four-course brunch by Benjamin Tan, head chef at The White Rabbit and sugee cakes from Quentin's Kakes to pay homage to the bride's Eurasian heritage.
"It was our wedding the way we wanted it, and represented who we are," Jill commented of their understated ceremony. "We wouldn't have had it any other way."
