The graphic designer couple surely knows what art is, both in terms of knowing what they want for their pre-wedding shoot and understanding the process of leaving it to the artist to do the magic. The result was marvelous. In fact Ritchie, the groom, even said, "We have set the bar high, but Govinda of Terralogical still managed to exceed our expectations and blew our minds."
Their idea was to defy all the conventions and standards of pre-wedding pictures. Instead of emphasizing on romantic poses, the two shed a light on visionary and creative freedom, especially when working with a photographer they have dreamt of working with for a long time. In contrast to their long-standing 9 year relationship, the photo shoot was arranged on a short-notice. Even so, it didn't mean that the photo results were by any means ordinary.
For the art direction, Govinda went with Shoji Ueda-inspired looks that centers on silhouettes, sand dunes and poetic surrealism. Befitting the description, the final photos are picturesque and rich with creativity. "We are stiff posers in reality but they succeeded to loosen us up during the process. We turned out to be marvelous jumpers!" Ritchie said. In attempt to further defy conventions, Ritchie and Gissella wore mostly masculine outfits. And if you think the couple went abroad to find the perfect location for the shoot, you're mistaken as the shoot was located in several spots around Tanjung Pinang, Bintan Island. Some of them are the Chinatown, Trikora Beach, The Sand Dunes, and Dompak Violet Hills.
Of course, a pre-wedding session is not only about the photos, but also the exciting experience that comes with it. After what clearly seems like a great deal of fun for these two, Ritchie shared an advice for those who are about to have their pre-wedding session, "Conceptual pre-wedding photos are the ones we will remember years after the wedding. Work with a team of photographers you like, trust them and you will get the best out of your investment."
