Crystal and Gilbert first met during a work meeting back in 2015. The two bumped into each other again in early 2017 and officially became a couple in April 2017. Having completely contrast personalities with each other, Crystal confessed that their relationship was not the easiest. The couple needed a lot of patience to be able to compromise with one another. In the end, their differences became the factor that made them completing one another. The decision to get married then came naturally as they both wanted to settle down and grow old together.
The unique thing about this pre-wedding shoot was that it was completely unplanned. Crystal and Gilbert were merely going to Tokyo for a holiday, and Gilbert's good friend Ryerson Anselmo, who was the photographer at Costes Portrait, happened to be there at the same time. Spontaneously, they decided to dedicate one day in their itinerary for a photoshoot. Ryerson also came up with the general cool-toned mood and concept for the photo shoot on the spot. "We really love the way he captured perfect moments, and how each photo can tell a story. During the photo shoot, he was very professional, yet fun, and had a way of making our poses look effortlessly good," recalled Crystal.
The lovebirds posed naturally while strolling in three areas: Omotesando, Cat Street, and Yoyogi Park. It was almost dark when they reached the last location, the Yoyogi Park. "It was really cold, but thankfully we finished fast," said Crystal. "I suggest, for brides-to-be who are planning to have a photo shoot overseas, wear a dress, but make sure that the weather isn't freezing!"
