An Atmospheric Balinese and Peranakan Engagement Album

When Keisha and Roy were introduced in December 2012, it was far from love at first sight. "We met at work, where I was a management trainee and Roy was a very annoying mentor to me and my friends. We even had a big fight once!" Keisha recalled. It was only after Roy's apology that they started seeing each other in a different light. "We started having good conversations and I realized how kind and caring he actually was," she added.

The two finally started going out in 2013 and three years later on Keisha's birthday, Roy proposed to her during an intimate candle-lit dinner. "He booked a private area with a view of the city lights. When the final course was served, suddenly a singer came inside and started to sing La Vie en Rose," reminisced Keisha. Roy got down on one knee, popped the question, and the rest is history.

The pair drew inspiration from their grandparents' cultural heritage for the pre-wedding photo shoot. "We had two concepts, as I'm half-Balinese and Roy is half-Peranakan," Keisha explained. "Although the photos look vintage, they still had a modern twist. We wanted to make sure that they would be timeless enough to share with our future grandchildren," she continued.

One month before the shoot, Keisha prepared everything—from booking the photographers and stylist to scouting different locations. Her house became the setting of their vibrant Balinese photo shoot with Duaritme. "We contacted a traditional wedding vendor to help me put on the Balinese attires. In the end, she brought along her entire family just to help us!" said Keisha.

For the Peranakan-themed session captured by Jatidiri Ono, Keisha and Roy were dressed in simple yet chic outfits as they strolled around the Chinatown area of Petak Sembilan. They completed the engagement album with an indoor shoot at Jakarta's old town district. This time, the quirky couple had on modern ethnic attires that wouldn't look out of place in a magazine editorial shoot.
