Karina and Bryan's relationship started when they were in junior high school. "He was my senior and I wasn't interested in dating him at first. He soon started bribing my best friend using her favorite magazines and comic books, so she would tell me all his good points!" recalled Karina. Since then, they've spent 14 years together, facing ups and downs along the way. "The hardest part was having a long-distance relationship for two years. After going back to Jakarta for good, we both decided to get engaged," she continued.
Right after the engagement, the pair had six months to plan their wedding. Thanks to her friends, Karina's planning process was a lot less stressful than she had imagined. "My bridesmaids were so thoughtful and helped me plan everything," said the beautiful bride. Karina's friend from college, Inezia Chrizita happens to be a bridal designer who made her a gorgeous mermaid dress with a detachable train. Her neighbor back in Sydney, Albert of Euodia Home, also helped to prepare diffuser bottles infused with her favorite scents as wedding favors. "It was a big hit!" said Karina.
As part of Papertree Decor, along with one of her bridesmaids, Karina took a hands-on approach in decorating her venue. "I was quite detailed and particular about everything related to the wedding, so I ended up designing a lot of things myself!" she said. "It was definitely exciting, and in the end I was really happy to be able to make my dreams come true," Karina added.
The celebration spanned the course of two days. First up was the holy matrimony, followed by a wedding luncheon at Rumah Imam Bonjol. The venue was decoration with a combination of industrial marble and rustic details. Two weeks later, they held a reception at Sampoerna Strategic Square, which was also adorned with rustic elements. "I wanted my guests to feel that it was not just 'another' wedding. The space was designed to be intimate with a lot of great photo spots and plenty of food. I expected them to stay longer and enjoy the party, and they did!" she said.
