A Timeless Indoor Pre-Wedding Shoot With a Modern Flair

Diana and Ray were introduced by their families during a Chinese New Year celebration in Surabaya. "My dad actually knows Ray's grandma quite well, and we all happened to bump into each other that day," reminisced Diana. The two then started dating in April 2015.

One day, the couple went to a coffee exhibition at a cafe in Jakarta. "We both love coffee and Ray knew that I would be interested in attending such an exhibition," said Diana. As it turned out, the whole event was a setup! "Ray orchestrated the wedding proposal with the help of Wink-a-Ring. I really didn't expect that he would propose to me there," she continued.

For their pre-wedding photo shoot, Diana and Ray wanted a simple concept that could truly represent them as a couple. They quickly reached out to Indonesian fashion photographer, Hakim Satriyo who is famous for his classic portraits of models and celebrities. Diana had no second thoughts in choosing her wardrobe for the shoot. "Ray and I liked wearing Comme de Garcons shirts even before we met, so we often wore matching outfits accidentally when we started going out," recalled Diana. "I found it cute and thought that we should take at least a couple of shots with our so-called uniform," the lovely bride-to-be added.

Throughout the shoot, Hakim made sure that the pair felt comfortable and looked great for their pre-wedding photos. "I really didn't know how to pose in front of the camera, so I asked Hakim countless times for directions and guidance," said Diana, "He kept telling me to open my mouth slightly, which I found a bit weird, but it did make the photos turn out better. So I thought, this must be the key to a good pose!"
