Chris and Pam got engaged while climbing a mountain in Scotland in 2014. It was only natural that they wanted their wedding to be as adventurous as their proposal."We wanted to find a place in southern Europe that reflected our conservative values. It also has to be a place where our friends and family had never been to. As we both had lived in Italy for some time, we knew the wedding had to be done there," explained the bride.
Before the wedding day, the pair threw a rehearsal dinner in a cave-like restaurant where they stayed. A long table was adorned with candle lights, magenta chrysanthemums, and lush arrangements of greenery. Each guest was even gifted a straw hat to complete the bohemian atmosphere. A warm atmosphere enveloped the entire evening, as the guests got to know each other.
Their wedding celebration was held in Masseria Potenti, a charming hotel known for its homemade Italian delicacies. "It wasn't the most beautiful of all the places we had seen, but it was still very sophisticated, rustic, and chic. The owners even greeted us with a big hug as if welcoming us into their family," Pam said.
For this special day, Pam picked a backless sheer lace wedding gown with bell-sleeves, while Chris looked posh in his marsala-colored suit. All the bridesmaids looked as elegant as the bride in their white mismatched dresses. After the ceremony, a traditional Puglian band came in from the main entrance and serenaded everyone down to the pool. "Chris and I led everyone dancing down to the poolside. There, we provided cheese and steak corner, fresh vegetables, and drinks like Aperol spritz and Masseria's wine," the bride recalled.
When it was time for dinner, tables were already topped with white linens then decorated with greenery and white flowers. Another unique element was the inverted leaves hung along with tambourines instead of traditional place cards. Not wanting the day to end early, all the guests mingled after they dined. "What I love is how this trip created an instant bond between everyone invited. They ended up hanging out even after the wedding, making little trips with each other. It was so moving to see our family and friends enjoy their time with one another," said the bride.
