A vintage themed wedding filled with retro paraphernalia and Peranakan flavours is how to best describe Yang Shen and Lydia's church ceremony held at Wesley Methodist Church – the very same church the groom's parents married.
Paying homage to the rich history of the church and all things colonial Singapore, the venue turned into a blast from the past with old-school childhood snacks packed in retro biscuit tins, plus a special appearance by Uncle Chua Ice Cream mobile ice-cream vendor (perfect for the warm sunny day).
Befitting of the church's terracotta brick laden walls and mahogany interiors, the colour palette was a bright mix of burgundies, reds and pinks, applied to the flowers, bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen ties and couple's classic ride – a bright red 1973 Volkswagen convertible.
"Our favourite wedding detail will have to be the Peranakan-British luncheon at the church catered by Violet Oon's Kitchen. The food was really delicious and the décor provided really suited the theme," says Lydia.
