Shelvin and Steven met while the two were in Shanghai. "My cousin and his best friend introduced us. I was on an all-girls trip while he was on a business trip," the bride reminisced. One day during a trip to Bora-Bora in French Polynesia, Steven finally asked Shelvin to marry him. "He was so nervous; he's been quiet all morning! In the middle of light drizzle, he asked me to stand at the edge of the pier for a photo. Right after that, he took out the ring and proposed," Shelvin said.
The venue for this couple's wedding apparently was one Shelvin had been eyeing on for a long time. "I was so inspired by Andien Aisyah's wedding a few years ago and wanted to get married at the exact same spot. The first time I set foot on the venue, I fell in love. I was so sure that this place is the one," she said. However, having quite the unusual wedding location naturally comes with its own struggles. "I have to rent every single thing. But it was definitely worth it," Shelvin stated.
On the wedding day, she woke up really really excited. "I was so happy getting my hair and makeup done. Upan Duvan did a really wonderful job," she said. Her dress by Yefta Gunawan was also a stunner. It was fully embellished with pearls and had a bell-sleeve model that was unique and edgy. The dress hugs her figure beautifully and the plunging neckline instilled a sexy look. To complete her whole bridal ensemble was a cathedral-length veil, also embellished with pearls.
The holy matrimony site was decorated beautifully. A combination of pampas grass, wooden logs, candelabras and fabric overlays on the ceiling created a thick bohemian feel, while still remaining elegant for the forest wedding. With such a beautiful setting, walking down the aisle with her father naturally became Shelvin's favorite moment of the whole day. "My sister chose the perfect song. It was Pie Jesu by All Angels," she recalled. "Everything went well and thank God it didn't rain a single drop," Shelvin added.
