Malva and Angga had been friends for 10 years before they finally started a relationship. "Angga is a tattoo artist, and I asked him to make me a tattoo one day. He had recently moved from Bandung to Surabaya back then," Malva recalled. Throughout the years, their friendship never headed to a romantic direction as they were both seeing other people. "We reconnected in 2015 and I asked him to ink me another tattoo. At the time, we were both single and he started to make a move," she continued. As the pair had known each other for so long, they felt no need for a romantic wedding proposal. "One day when we were having dinner with my family, Angga asked my dad for his blessing. Come to think of it, he actually proposed to my dad instead of me!" she added.
The two wanted a casual outdoor wedding with only their closest family and friends present. "Black and white are our favorite colors, and we wanted them to be reflected in our wedding day," said Malva. The monochromatic color palette even extended to the invitations, favors, and dress code for their 250 guests. Malva and Angga then entrusted every wedding element to a selection of talented vendors. "Donny Liem, Eddy Rizaldy, and Fifi Firianty had been my dream vendors since forever and thankfully, I was able to hire them for my wedding. I even had to change my wedding date to fit their schedule! All the other vendors were also amazing and we simply couldn't have done it without them," reminisced Malva, who is a prominent makeup artist herself.
When the big day finally came, it happened just as the couple had always wanted. "We felt a warm sense of kinship throughout the day. Our guests enjoyed their time together as if they were all family," said the beautiful bride. "Even on the wedding day, I couldn't believe that we were married. We were in the same social circle for years, and we didn't even imagine that we would end up with each other," she continued.
Malva then shared some valuable advice for brides-to-be who are currently planning their wedding. "Mind your budget, book the wedding vendors you like as soon as possible, and don't think too much about what other people say as they might simply have different tastes," she advised. She added, "There will be some obstacles on the way, but just be patient and go through it together. In the end, you'll see that everything has helped to strengthen your relationship."
