Lydia and Ronald first met during a social charity event, "We were both volunteering to provide free dental services for a free school. At the time, we were stationed at the same cleaning station," said Lydia. The two eventually got together and one day, Ronald prepared an unforgettable wedding proposal for Lydia.
"Ronald's close friends asked me to hang out with them since he was supposedly on a business trip to Surabaya," Lydia reminisced. When she went to their apartment, what she found was beyond her expectations. "There he was with a guitar, flowers, champagne and a ring," she added. "The song, 'Lebih Indah' perfectly describes how I feel when she's around, so I learned to play it and even sang it for her," explained Ronald.
The pair then planned a grand wedding with thousands of guests in Jakarta. But deep down inside, they actually yearned for an intimate celebration attended by only their closest friends and family. To fulfill at least part of that dream, they asked Jakarta-based wedding stylist, Flying Bride, to set up a photo session loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, Ronald's favorite movie. "I can somehow relate to the Beast, being so loved by someone with a beautiful soul," he explained.
"It was an elopement-inspired shoot. Lydia had on a beautiful dress by Yefta Gunawan and we prepared a gorgeous bouquet, a wedding ceremony setup by the beach, even full table settings, as if they really had a wedding for two," Nastassya explained. Behind the lens was celebrity wedding photographer, Elizabeth Messina, capturing every moment. Aren't you inspired? Tell us what you think in the comments section below!
