Set among various picturesque sides of Sunstone Vineyards & Winery, Jen Huang created a moment to remember for a couple who came all the way from Indonesia. As both photographer and creative director, Jen Huang designed several romantic scenes with an incredible team of creatives to give the couple an emotional, substantive backdrop for beautiful candids and portraits to emerge.
For their first look, it was taken at a moody, natural-stone bedroom at Sunstone Villa. The natural colors and foggy morning light was the perfect ambiance for an intimate and casual look they were looking for. Chiali Meng, hair stylist and makeup artist, created a carefree bun to complement Samantha's loose-fitting and cozy sweater. Jen Huang also styled the room with shades of dark plum and spring lilacs that represented Samantha's favorite tones and colors.
The second session highlighted the stark and beautiful exteriors of Sunstone's villa, which was used as a studio for formal bridal portraits. Samantha had chosen a mandarin collar dress which Jen Huang used as the cornerstone of this scene, bringing in their cultural heritage and celebrating their roots. Jen also brought her own wedding headpiece, a delicate hammered silver Hmong headpiece to complement Samantha's silvery wedding gown. To top it all, Jonathan wore a handsome earth-toned mandarin collar suit. For the next look, Samantha and Jonathan also donned a red Chinese dress, black suit and gold headpiece which symbolizes both luck and happiness in embarking marriage life.
The session following was done in an indoor studio, with Samantha in a pale lilac wedding dress holding a beautiful lilac and sweet pea bouquet by Camellia Floral Design. To accentuate the whole concept, Chiali Meng added fresh branches of lilac to a loose, low bun and Jonathan changed into a custom tailored suit. Jen Huang captured the couple against the landscapes of Santa Ynez that's famous for its beautiful golden light.
For the last scene, Jen Huang set out a bucolic picnic with white linens and striped bamboo chairs. She dappled the blanket with natural baskets, citrus and glasses of rose wine. Samantha and Jonathan enjoyed their wine and plenty of kisses in the fading light of a majestic sunset. As you all can see, the results were definitely a picture-perfect memory to reminisce for years to come.
