A Classic Ballroom Wedding with a Rustic Twist in Singapore

Following their romantic engagement session in Osaka, Wee Ling and Guan Yi held a classic ballroom wedding in their hometown of Singapore. Knowing that ballrooms are high in demand in the Lion City, the pair started planning their wedding one month after the engagement. "We started in early 2016 and aimed for a classy ballroom wedding. Most importantly, we wanted our guests to enjoy the banquet food," Wee Ling explained. Charmed by its pillar-less space and panoramic screen, the couple quickly chose the Grand Ballroom of Grand Hyatt Singapore.

Next, Wee Ling and Guan Yi proceeded to choose a suitable wedding color palette. Shades of navy blue and blush pink were incorporated into every element, from the flower bouquet to the bridesmaid's navy blue dresses and the groomsmen's pink shorts. "I wanted the ladies to have the masculine color and the gentlemen to wear the feminine color," explained the lovely bride.

Their wedding day started with a betrothal ceremony at Wee Ling's home. She glowed in a backless blush dress, complete with a hair bun and veil. Guan Yi, on the other hand, wore a navy blue suit and blush tie to match his bride. Following that was the wedding ceremony, during which Wee Ling let her hair down into loose curls. For the Chinese tea ceremony and reception afterwards, Wee Ling changed into an alluring maroon cheongsam and A-line gown respectively. In total, Wee Ling had three different dresses on her wedding day. "It is a once-in-a-lifetime event after all!" she said.

Adorning their reception ballroom were wooden pallets, wine crates, glass jars, and fairy lights to reflect Wee Ling and Guan Yi's rustic wedding theme. They even built the photo booth backdrop by themselves! "We were lucky enough to get the pallets for free. However, they were not in a pristine condition so we had to clean and sand them ourselves," reminisced Wee Ling.
