A match-making introduction was the start of Vania and Andra's love story. After a romantic proposal and a pre-wedding shoot with an ethnic twist, the two held their marriage in both Minangnese and Javanese cultures.
The festive wedding was held at Royal Kuningan Jakarta. The couple decided to do their akad nikah ini Minang culture which brimmed with vibrant colors like red and gold. For the night reception, they transformed the hotel ballroom into a garden with blooming flowers. At last Vania's dream for an outdoor wedding came true, thanks to the talented hands of Azka Anggun Art. Taking a different turn from their akad nikah processionals, this time Andra and Vania were clad in kebaya and beskap which represented the Javanese culture. To match the earthy tones of the decor, their attires were made in shades of champagne and gold. "I've wanted Dewangga to make my wedding kebaya from the very first time I saw his work. I trusted fully in his decisions and it was Dewangga who thought about every single detail. In the end, I felt that the dress really represented me, the girl who loves flowers," Vania shared.
One unique fact that we noticed from the whole celebration was that the couple really put importance on their family and friends' involvement in each and every step of the celebration. "During the reception Qirab, it was Andra's cousin that serenanded us to the stage. He happens to be a Javanese dancer and Andra himself asked for him to dance in Cucuk Lampah procession," Vania shared. In the middle of the reception, Vania's mother and her friends also performed a dance and even asked the guests to join along! "After the reception, we also made a small after party for friends and cousins in Senopati. Our best friend was the DJ of the night. We were so happy to see all the guests having fun. Their love and energy was surreal," Vania added.
There was another philosophy that Vania and Andra held throughout the wedding planning. No wedding is perfect so there's no need to think about stuff that are not too important. If there are problems on the day, she believes it will only be temporary. "Luckily, Andra and I are the simple couple, so we only focused on the things that we wore like makeup and wedding attire. All the rest, we entrusted it to our parents and wedding planner. Point is, couples have to always stick together and have unity in decisions," she advised.
