Apparently 3 percent of the wedding budget goes to stationery, and the larger the wedding, the more money spent on paper. Yikes! Here are a few simple ways you can slash your stationery budget by almost half.
Print in a single colour
Printing stationery in a simple colour like black is classic, elegant and cost-effective. Instead of using multiple colours, how about making the paper coloured, to match the font? For example, green and grey paper goes really well with green font!
Don't letterpress everything
Focus your budget on items that guests are likely to keep such as the invitations and thank-you cards. Everything else like placecards, escort cards, menu, table numbers and programmes can be printed on your own. Or you could be really inventive and use recyclable materials for some of these items like handwritten pebbles for placecards.
Keep the invitation small and lightweight
Oversized invitations cost more to mail out than standard-sized cards, and there is also a surcharge for sending ones that aren't entirely flat, like those with wax seals and ribbons. Postcards are supposedly the cheapest mail to send out!
Start a wedding website
A website is a cheap way to disseminate the information like "Save the Date" details, and other factoids of your wedding day. Just send a main invitation proper, and refer guests to the website for RSVPs and direction details.
DIY printables
Downloadable wedding stationery (available at many places online) is a really affordable way to have the full scope of paper products that look expensive and is mostly free. Just buy good quality paper, load the printer with new ink cartridges, and you're ready to go!
