Your wedding day is one of the most emotional days in your life, no wonder brides feel a lot more anxious as the big day comes closer. Unfortunately, all that stress brings along plenty of skin problems such as puffy eyes, dark circles, dull skin, or even the dreaded acne here and there. We're sure you want to look perfect on your wedding day, and of course that includes having flawless and glowing skin.
Before you start worrying too much about your skin, just keep the following beauty tips in mind. One thing you should not do is try a whole new skincare regimen only a few months before the big day. Though you might be tempted to get instant results, any harsh facial treatment like a laser or peeling treatment can cause skin irritation or breakouts that take time to heal.
Though it might sound clichéd, the first thing you should do to maintain your skin condition is get enough sleep. You should also try to stick to the skincare products that are suitable for your skin, do double cleansing especially if you wear makeup every day, and try as hard as possible to maintain your stress levels by believing that your wedding day will be just fine.
Even if you've taken good care of your skin, unexpected skin problems can always pop up at the last minute. There's no need panic, as we've prepared a list of five easy beauty hacks and tips for your wedding day.
1. Puffy eyes
You definitely don't want to have puffy, tired eyes on your big day, right? Keep them at bay with two things you can easily find in your kitchen: cucumber and a cold spoon. Cucumber or a cold spoon can help reduce puffy and tired-looking eyes. Or, you can use an eye roller to massage your under-eye area. A collagen eye mask can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and tired-looking eyes. Use a collagen eye mask the night before your wedding day, so your eyes will look more youthful and fresh when morning comes.
2. Acne
Thanks to the increasing stress levels as your wedding day approaches, zits can suddenly pop up a week before or even on the big day. Don't panic, there's a simple hack to solve this problem using a simple ice cube. Place the ice cube over your zit for 10 minutes to help reduce the swelling and freeze your pores. This trick can also help reduce the redness around the zit or pimple.
If you still have a day or a week's time before the wedding, you can use baking soda instead. Simply mix baking soda and some warm water to make a paste, then apply it on your acne. Wait until the paste dries completely and wash it off with warm water. If your skin feels a bit dry afterwards, just add some moisturizer or aloe cream over the acne.
3. Lack of sleep
Feeling nervous before the wedding can stop you from getting any sleep, let alone eight hours of beauty sleep. One thing you should try is use lavender essential oil. Lavender oil will not only make you sleepy, it can also help you relax and relieve yourself from the stress of wedding planning. Just rub a bit of lavender essential oil around your temple and on the back of your ears, or add a few drops to your drinking water.
4. Cracked lips
Are your lips starting to crack? Simply rub an ointment or heavy lip balm (our favorites are the Lucas Papaw Ointment and Nivea Petroleum Jelly). Apply your trusty lip balm to your lips every morning and night, and stay away from any matte lipstick before the wedding, as this kind of lipstick will make your lips dry even faster.
You can also scrub your lips using a mix of granulated sugar and petroleum jelly. Rub it on your lips once a week or a day before the wedding. But remember, do not rub it too hard.
5. Other beauty emergencies
Prepare yourself for any beauty emergency you can think of by preparing a mini pouch containing all the products you might need for a quick fix. Make sure to include clear nail polish, nail polish remover, plenty of bobby pins, safety pins, a cloth stain remover, and anything else that you can think of. You better keep yourself prepared before something goes wrong and ruins your perfect day.
