Dating is a crucial process where you find out stuff that you like or dislike about each other, that will ultimately allow you to decide whether you want to go into a relationship with this person, or to turn around and run for your life. Men are turned on or off by ─ a lot of ─ different things than women. We think that you might have a pretty good idea about what turns men on, so let us share with you four things that may scare men off when you're still dating.
1. Being too demanding
Dating is when we're just getting to know each other, so it's probably not a good idea for a girl to be too demanding. We wouldn't even know if we love you enough (yet) to give in to your needs (be it incessant or not). To demand our time when we're not ready, or to constantly ask questions about our whereabouts, or to be too needy are all sure ways to scare us off.
2. Being pretentious
Most men will figure out pretty fast whether you're being the real you or you're pretending to be someone else. We can also tell if you're comfortable with the real us or if we need to put up a mask in front of you. So if you're not as real as we think you are, and you're not allowing us to be ourselves, you can be sure we won't stick around for too long.
3. Kissing and telling
We understand that you need a good and reliable support system. We get that girls need their girlfriends. However, we'd hate if they'd be backseat driving our (potential) relationship. You wouldn't like if we kiss and tell, or if we didn't make decisions on our own, so it would only be fair that you do the same.
4. Too much planning and prospects (or lack thereof)
Men do not like it when the woman he is just trying to get close to makes too much plans and goes crazy (e.g. making wedding plans and naming your 6 kids during your first date) with enthusiasm. Sure, we appreciate the effort and how she's not afraid to show her feelings, but it's also important to try and control those crazy, estrogen filled moments to ensure he does not look elsewhere for a less crazy person. At the same time, if a woman has ZERO plans for a future together with you might also be a turnoff as most men would like to know that their time and money invested in dating you, will reap major benefits such as a blissful marriage and possibly a family (of course within sometime of dating and have reached a certain level of comfort and understanding.)
