The love story of one the world's most influential couples, Michelle and Barack Obama, started way back in 1989. Princeton and Harvard graduate, Michelle Robinson was an attorney for the prestigious law firm, Sidley Austin when she was assigned to advise a summer associate named Barack Obama. Despite their different backgrounds and personalities, Barack and Michelle soon found themselves falling for each other. Long story short, they got married in 1992 after three years of dating.
The couple's introduction to the public began during their campaign trail in 2007. Two years later, Barack made history as the first African-American president of the United States. Since then, the couple and their daughters have become role models for not only their nation but also the whole world. Malia and Sasha, who are turning 19 and 16 this year, were even named two of Time's 25 most influential teens in 2014.
Not everyone approves of the political agenda and legacy that Barack Obama has left behind, yet few will question his love for his one-and-only First Lady. Click through the slideshow below for some lessons of love from this extraordinary couple.

Your ideal partner means more than looks, money, or titles
“Cute only lasts for so long, and then it's, ‘Who are you as a person?’ Don't look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn't know. And, more important, how does he treat you?” – Michelle Obama in 2009
It’s easy to be drawn to superficial things when meeting new people. However, the intangible yet meaningful things in life—such as loyalty, honesty, integrity—are the very things that will shape your entire future together.
