A bride can get it all figured out, but Mother Nature always has the last say; and when it rains, it rains. A lot of brides see rain as an uninvited guest when actually it can bring so many advantages, especially for wedding pictures. Below are some simple tips to help you tackle precipitation and still rock those wedding pictures.
Keep a positive attitude
When it suddenly rains, don't tense up, and just stay positive. Aside from symbolizing good luck for the bride and groom, rain also helps elevate your wedding pictures to a whole new level. Whether it's a drizzle or a hard shower, rain brings with it a dreamy and misty feel about the pictures. Don't believe us? Just check out these photos from a couple who decided to brave the rain and continue their wedding outdoors. So instead of rambling around with the worry of getting soaked, just think of all the great pictures and memories you'll have after. It's almost impossible to get rainy wedding pictures without getting wet, so you might as well have fun with it.
Get proppin'
A good bride comes prepared. When there's a chance of rain, prepare some rainy day accessories to help you stay nice and dry. While you're at it, think also about how well they would look in the pictures. Color coordinate them, so if you have to actually wear them, they still look classy and in line with your wedding theme. Clear umbrellas, or colored ones or even black ones, and colored boots will do a mighty fine job.
Talk to your photographer
As it is about the wedding pictures, be sure that your photographer is also prepared should there be rain coming your way. Talk to them about it, and ask them to be prepared. A tip: hire professional photographers who have had years of experience in the wedding industry so that if a downpour comes, instead of being overwhelmed, they would know well what to do.
Time it right
It is said that twilight and night time provide the best rain pictures, in that the photographer will be able to freeze the raindrops and get amazing, dreamy shots. If you wish to keep looking dry, sneak in between schedules to get pictures when the drizzle slows down. Either way, it's great if you can have a flexible schedule and if you can, keep your makeup artist ready at all times. Here are some tips to keep your weather hairdo weather-proof throughout the whole day.
Experiment with creative ideas
There are plenty of creative pictures you can get even when it's raining. Since you've agreed to have fun, you can try some ideas you like for your wedding photos. You can try the reflective water puddle effect, toying with the umbrella, finding shelter in the rain, rocking colored boots, or getting soaking wet.
Coordinate with your vendors
When it rains, there's bound to be some changes made in how the wedding goes. Remember to also coordinate with all your vendors, not only with the photographer as we have discussed above. Ask your wedding planner to create alternative rundowns just in case it rains. Think of how you'll have to switch venues when you're thinking an outdoor wedding. Prepare a wedding insurance just in case a storm comes in and you can't get your hands on your marriage certificate, and other take note of other things you have to prepare just in case it rains.
Have fun with it
