Immersed in the woods, Matt and Jessie's wedding epitomizes the use of organic nature. Being nature-lovers as they are, Matt and Jessie celebrated their love in a new kind of beautiful. They tied the knot under a tent adorned with little lights, and Jessie walked down the aisle, bare feet. Moreover, their post-wedding pictures involve dipping their feet into a soft-flowing river under the misty rain. Here's what the Bride said about the wedding:
I insisted we call it Love Day, because it felt bigger than us.
There were so many elements; so many years, friends, family, dinners, game nights, gardens, shows...that helped to grow our little love into the big promise it had become. So we wanted it to be a day to celebrate not just our love, but all of the love in our hearts, and all of the love around us. Matt worked hard on his garden all Summer long; he built brick paths for us to walk down, built arbors, watered, weeded, and turned soil. It was an impossibly beautiful, sunshine-full Summer and the garden flourished! Sunflowers as tall as houses, so many colors your eyes went wild. That garden was his pride and joy. August 31st was a gray morning, but we ran squealing into the river for a Love Day baptism anyway. We toasted and hugged and OM'd our nerves right out into the thick misty morning air. And our spirits soared! But when the rain finally came, I was pained that Matt would be sad, would regret that his garden might not be seen in all of its glory. So I had my best friend call and ask him if he was upset. Per usual, his answer was a simple one: "There are bigger things in store for today." If I wasn't already as sure as a girl can be that this human was my human, this one sentence sealed the deal. My stepdad told me once that life is not about enduring the storm, it's about dancing in the rain. And this the man who would dance with me. So that is exactly what we did.
