When we talk about the adorable people who can brighten your wedding, we're talking about the little men and little princesses who will walk down the aisle with you. Flower girls and ring bearers are the cutest of the bridal party and it's the loveliest way to involve nieces, nephews or little cousins in your celebration.
Here are several things to consider before you appoint them a member of your bridal party:
1. The right age.
Flower girls and ring bearers are usually children between the ages 3 to 10. They will have quite a role in your party, so make sure they're responsible enough to carry out their duties. Other than being the "opening act" to your walk down the aisle, a flower girl's role is to scatter flower petals while the ring bearers would hold the wedding ring box. Choose the children in your family who are mature enough to carry this out.
2. The ears for instructions.
Children will be children. Sometimes they can get easily distracted and they can be quite stubborn too. Choose children who are mature enough to follow instructions and to do what they are told. That way, you can relax as you walk down the aisle.
3. The Anti-Stage Fright
This last tip is also as crucial in choosing your little helpers. Choose the one who will be brave enough to walk down the aisle with so many eyes upon them, ooh-ing and aah-ing at how cute they are. Take your flower girl and ring bearer on a practice run before the big day to give them a glimpse of what they'll have to do on the big day.
These three tips can help you to consider which of your nieces, nephews or cousins will be your little helpers. But if on your big day they get nervous and suddenly don't want to "perform", fret not, children are magical. They will still be cute either way.
Today we'd also like to share with you a compilation of our favorite flower girls and ring bearers. We hope it will inspire you as you pick out the ones that will complement your walk down the aisle.
