A Glamorous Wedding By The Sea in Bali

The perfect wedding with a monochromatic palette is associated with simplicity – and it seems to us that Melvin and Loan know this very well. Their choice to go with white and black for a wedding theme is lovely – but what we love most is how they combine it with just a tiny, little hint of blue and it is perfect considering that they were getting married in a chapel by the sea. Here's what the photographer said about the wedding:

Melvin & Loan met back in 2005 at an international student party. Melvin proposed while they were in Paris and 18 months later, they decided to tie the knot in Bali. Melvin planned the proposal for 6 months and popped the question at the city of lights. He took Loan to a breakfast in Palais Royal and then went for a walk in the gardens. A busker was playing Paranoid Android by Radiohead, one of the couple's favorite song. Then he played the Luckiest by Ben Folds. He paused on the last verse and a girl tapped Loan on the shoulder, handed her a bunch of roses and said, in French: "Melvin has something he wants to ask you". Loan said yes, of course, and a pretend Japanese tourist caught it all on video.

The couple hired Nefianto Setiono of Nefi Decor to style their wedding. The couple's theme was classic black & white, with large floral arrangements of white moon orchids and roses. "The floral design was very much influenced by their style and personalities. They are both into basic colors and black and white," Nefianto says.They presented the elegant seating plans with mini pegs from a line at the entrance to the reception area.

The couple organized for their guests to stay at nearby hotels and planned spa packages, a tea ceremony and a welcome dinner to make the most time together with their loved friends and family. For the bombonieres, they put together welcome gift packs, which included a limited edition scarf from Melvin's label Song for the Mute, personalized room scent with their logo on the box and personal guide to all of their favorite places in Bali.

"I love the moment when we were hugged and kissed and congratulated by every single guest after they showered us with flowers and release the balloons," Loan says about her most memorable thing of the wedding. Although a sudden downpour spoiled plans for an outdoor reception, the Conrad staff managed to organize a move to the ballroom where then the happy couple decided to dance their first dance to song 'The Luckiest', played live by that 'busker' from Paris, Leo Elso. Another remarkable moment of the night was Melvin's brother's speech in which he sang a song that made everyone in the room cry, especially Melvin. To finish the many days of celebration with a bang, Melvin and Loan had fireworks show and danced the night away. After all of the joyous bash, Loan & Melvin decided to delay their honeymoon by 6 months so that they could spend it in Sapporo, Japan during the snowy season.
