Setting up a guest list can be a pretty tricky feat. Hosting a wedding at a venue with limited space can make setting up the guest list easier, or even harder. If you're having a hard time to choose who should go on your guest list, start with those who should not be in it. Here are five people you can cross off your list:
Your (and his) exes
Let's just get over of the past and move on to your whole new life. The presence of your exes or his exes would just create an awkward situation you might not want to find yourself in on such a happy occasion.
High school friends you haven't spoken to in years
Even if you were so close back then in the good old school days, it doesn't mean that you have to invite her, especially when you haven't spoken to her in years. Not even if she's on your Facebook friend-list and she liked almost everything you posted. It doesn't count if you haven't had a real conversation or a face-to-face chat for years.
Neighbors who know nothing about you
Why bother inviting them, or anyone for that matter, if they know nothing about you? A wedding is a celebration of you and your new life. Why should they even be there if they don't even know your new life? Feel free to cross out neighbors, even if they live just two steps away from you.
Your best friend's plus one
If the plus-one is pretty serious, then he (or she) is certainly worth the guest count. If he (or she) is just a fling, leave him out, but tell your friend nicely so she (or he) will understand.
The so-called uncle or aunt who gets your name wrong every time.
Hey, family is family. But if they always mix up your name and they never get it right, they might not be as close as you think. Feel free to take them off your list.
The key to setting up a guest list is this: surround yourself with those you simply cannot imagine having a celebration without. You'll come up with only a few names, but they're probably the ones who really matter.
